Met Manish and his wife at my place around 1:30pm and started our long drive to Yosemite at 1:40pm from Tustin. Took us almost an hour and half just to get pass the LA downtown area due to heavy rain and traffic . We took I-5N all the way to the 99 and got off 99 at 41. From there we should have switched to 49N highway, but it got so dark after sunset and my phone run out of battery so i had to dig out my old “豬PS”(standalone GPS navigation system) which guided us take 41N all the way to 140W(from the South gate of YNP to the North gate). The longer route pushed our arrival time an hour later. After 7 hours of driving, we finally arrived at Bug Hostel around 830-845pm and checked into our cabin around 9pm(The restaurant had already closed by the time we arrived). The cabin was nice and clean. All the bunk beds came with sheet, pillow and comforter. Total of 12 guests share 2 showers and a restroom in the cabin.
Photo credit: Cheryl Davi; Info: This is where stayed for 2 night. I took the first lower bunk bed on the left.
This is the view from the outside of our cabin. Lock box on the patio for personal items, but i didn’t use it at all since my car parked just next to our cabin.
The cafe at the Bug. This is also were people gather for live music, games, and a great time. You can chilling at the sofa and fire place, do some reading, get connect to the outside world with free wifi, play board games with friends, enjoy a glass/a bottle of wine …etc
After we met with other members from the group who arrived before us, we quickly unloaded all our bags and headed to the kitchen. We cooked up some instant noodle and boiled water for hot tea. It felt so good to finally sat down and had a nice warm meal after the day.
After the quick dinner, I headed back to the cabin for a hot shower. It was still early in the night after shower, so I went back to the kitchen with my laptop to take care some emails, gave mom a call and drafted the trip journal. At usual, T-mobile’s network was our of reach, so It was nice that the campsite had pretty good wifi coverage and I could make calls via wifi.
